REVE stands for Regeneration of the Ecosystems of Vale da Esteva.
Three Intervention Areas:
Agroecology, Knowledge Labs, and Nature Tourism.
REVE is a socio-environmental project run by a private Portuguese company.
REVE's profits are channelled back into the project itself and are intended to benefit
the people involved in its implementation, the local community, and visitors to the region.
REVE is a Nature-Based Business.
Test Field by Ernst Götsch in Vale da Esteva
The Nature-Based Economy represents a paradigm shift in the way we conceive economic development.
With a great diversity of ecosystems, ranging from forests and coastal zones to farmland and protected areas, Portugal has come to recognise and value the economic benefits of the ecosystem services provided by nature.
This approach is in line with global sustainability trends and contributes to mitigating climate change, which is crucial for the future of both the country and the planet.
Forestry is a key area in which the Nature-Based Economy has excelled in Portugal. Forests play a vital role in regulating the climate, protecting biodiversity, and providing essential services for local communities.
As well as producing organic food, regenerative agriculture promotes soil rehabilitation and preservation, biodiversity, carbon capture, increased resilience to climate change, economic sustainability, and active support for local communities.
Knowledge Laboratories
This is an innovative and integrative space that offers workshops and training sessions, serving as a meeting point for schools, universities, and other public and private organisations linked to scientific research, culture, gastronomy, art, and entertainment.
Nature Tourism
(currently under construction)
Total immersion experiences and programmes include agrotourism, gastronomy, therapeutic forestry, forest navigation mastery, birdwatching, dark sky experiences, wellbeing and retreats, walking, trekking, cycling, and art.
That St Francis of Assisi, known for his deep love and respect for nature, is the patron saint of Vale da Esteva?
St Francis inspired the community to live in harmony with the environment...
Cristina, the project's CEO and mentor, is a devotee of Saint Francis and she runs the REVE programme's initiatives in the same spirit of care and reverence for creation that the saint preached.
Cristina's commitment to sustainability and the protection of our common home is the foundation of the activities and projects developed at Vale da Esteva, where she promotes a legacy of comprehensive ecological awareness and solidarity among all the people who are part of REVE - REGENERATION OF THE ECOSYSTEMS OF VALE DA ESTEVA.
